Important topics for NEET 2019

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or the NEET exam is a national level entrance test for admission to BDS and MBBS courses in India (except AIIMS and JIPMER). Hence, candidates clearing the exam can get a seat with one of the best dental and medical colleges in the country. In this article, we will talk about NEET Important Topics which will help you be better prepared for the exam.

The NEET exam has questions from three subjects – Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The questions from Biology include both Botany and Zoology. The syllabus is a mix of class 11 and 12 syllabus of these subjects. If you are preparing for the NEET exam, then you must ensure that you are well aware of the entire syllabus and do not skip any topic. However, there are some topics which are preferred by the examiners and are the important topics that you must focus on. While most coaching institutes and professors would highlight these topics, we are sharing the same for the benefit of all students.

Before we begin, let’s take a quick look at the syllabus.

Physics

In the past years, most applicants found Physics as the most difficult section. This was primarily because of the fact that the questions required them to remember various theories and formulae and apply them to the given problem which took time. Let’s take a quick look at the Physics syllabus:

The syllabus includes Units and Measurement, Mathematical Tools, Motion in a Straight Line and Plane, and also Laws of Motion. Further, it includes Work, Energy, and Power, Systems of Particles and Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Mechanical Properties of Solids and Fluids, and Thermal Properties of Matter. Furthermore, it includes Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Oscillations, Waves, Electric Charges and Fields, Electrostatic Potential and Capacitance, and Current Electricity. Additionally, the topics Moving Charges and Magnetism, Magnetism and Matter, Electromagnetic Induction, Alternating current, and Electromagnetic Waves are also included. Finally, you need to study Ray Optics and Optical Instruments, Wave Optics, Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter, Atoms, Nuclei, Semiconductor Electronics, and Communication Systems.

NEET Important Topics – Physics

Based on the analysis of previous years’ question papers, the NEET Important Topics for Physics are as follows:

  1. Mechanical Properties of Solids and Fluids
  2. Current Electricity
  3. Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter
  4. Moving Charges and Magnetism
  5. Thermodynamics
  6. Work Energy and Power
  7. Motion in a Plane
  8. Ray Optics and Optical Instruments
  9. Wave Optics
  10. Thermal Properties of Matter
  11. Gravitation
  12. Oscillations
  13. Alternating Current
  14. Waves
  15. Electric Charges and Fields
  16. Also, Semiconductors Electronics

Chemistry

Contrary to Physics, most candidates found Chemistry as the easiest section. The questions were straight-forward and also didn’t consume a lot of time. Let’s take a quick look at the Chemistry syllabus:

The syllabus includes Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements and Periodicity, and also Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure. Further, it includes the States of Matter, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Hydrogen, and the ‘S’ and ‘P’ Block Elements (class XI). Furthermore, it includes Basic Principals and Techniques of Organic Chemistry, Hydrocarbons, Environmental Chemistry, Solid State, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, and Surface Chemistry. Also, the topics General Principles & Processes of Isolation of Elements, The P Block Elements (class XII), The D and F Block Elements, Coordination Compounds, and Differentiation & Conversions in Organic Chemistry are included. Finally, you need to study Reaction Mechanism – Organic Chemistry, Haloalkanes & Haloarenes, Alcohols, Phenols & Ethers, Aldehydes, Ketones & Carboxylic Acids, Amines, Aines, and Bio-molecules along with Polymers and Chemistry in Everyday Life.

NEET Important Topics – Chemistry

The Zoology syllabus includes The Animal Kingdom, Structural Organisation in Animals, Digestion and Absorption, and also Breathing and Exchange of Gases. Further, it includes the Body Fluids and Circulations, Excretory Products and Their Elimination, Locomotion and Movement, and Neural Control & Coordination. Furthermore, it includes Chemical Coordination & Integration, Reproduction in Organisms, Human Reproduction, and Reproductive Health. Finally, you need to study Evolution, Human Health and Disease, and Microbes in Human Welfare.

The Botany syllabus includes The Living World, Biological Classification, Plant Kingdom, Morphology and also Anatomy of Flowering Plants. Further, it includes the Cells – the unit of life, Transport in Plants, Mineral Nutrition, and Photosynthesis in Higher Plants, Respiration in Plants, and Plant Growth and Development. It also includes Sexual Reproduction in Flowering Plants, Principles of Inheritance and Variation, Molecular Basis of Inheritance, Strategies for Enhancement in Food Production, and Biotechnology Principles and Processes. Finally, you need to study Biotechnology & its Applications, Organisms & Populations, Ecosystem, Biodiversity & Conservation, and Environmental Issues.
